Elopements & Small Weddings near Old Rag, Virginia
Elope facing Old Rag, on a thirty-two-acre farm with room for eighteen to stay
Thirty-two acres in Etlan, looking straight across at Old Rag, on the eastern edge of Shenandoah National Park. A main farmhouse, a cottage and a converted smokehouse, sleeping eighteen between them, with open ground, long views and no passing traffic.
It is a quiet place to elope, or to hold a small wedding among the people who matter most — the two of you and a witness with the mountain behind you, or a weekend with family and closest friends. Mornings come up over the ridge, and the evenings are dark enough for stars.
The land is a working one, and a good part of it is cut for hay through the summer, so the open ground shifts with the season. Even at the height of summer there is plenty of open ground, with the mountain straight ahead.
If there are more of you than Overlook can sleep, our other two houses, Old Rag Trailside and Old Rag Foothills, take up to ten guests each and sit under fifteen minutes away by car, so a larger group can stay together without anyone having far to drive.
If you are thinking of something small here, write and tell us what you have in mind, and we will be straight with you about what the house can and cannot do.
